PUP ON THE RISE: SQUID THE WHALE

Squid The Whale is an unsigned, DIY, progressive pop band from the outskirts of Detroit, MI. Their unique sound is somewhat unparalleled but likened to bands such as Anarbor and The Audition. They look to win fans over by laying it all out there with their intense lyrics and raw emotion exemplified in the vocal styling of frontman Bradley Walden—easily the band’s most recognizable feature. Driven by passion, it’s evident how much these guys put into their music. It isn’t some high school, “hey bro, let’s start a band and get chicks,” type of deal. It’s one of those things where you know that these guys aren’t fucking around. Their debut EP, new war., is due out on August 30th, and can be pre-ordered on their bandcamp.
You can check out our interview with the band below, as well as acoustic performances of their songs “Drown,” and “The Greatest Way.”
